I'll be there

With all the heart breaks and feeling despair,
i can only say

live like it's hell
waiting to walk into heaven...

I dont care what you do or say today
I know someday I will be there.

Keep Your Fork

My friend Mun forwarded me an email with a really inspiring story. I just want to share it with you here.

There was a woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and was given 3 months to live. As she began getting her things 'in order', she called her pastor and asked for him to come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she wanted read, and what dress she wanted to be buried in. She also requested to be buried with her favorite Bible in her left hand. Everything was in order and as the pastor was preparing to leave, the woman suddenly remembered one final request that was very important to her. "Please Pastor, just one more thing," she said excitedly. "Sure, what is it?" came the pastor's reply. "This is very important to me," the woman continued ... "I want to be buried holding a fork in my right hand." The pastor gazed at the woman, at a loss for words.

"That surprises you, doesn't it?" the woman asked. The pastor replied "Well to be quite honest, I am puzzled by the request".

The woman explained. "You see, Pastor, in all my years of attending church socials and potluck dinners, I remember that when the dishes were being cleared after the main course, someone would inevitably lean over to me and say, 'Keep your fork' ... it was my favorite part of the meal because I knew that something better was coming, like velvety chocolate cake or deep dish apple pie. Something wonderful to end the meal!"

The pastor listened intently and a smile came upon his face. The woman continued, "So, I just want people to see me there with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder ... 'What's with the fork'... then I want you to tell them: "Keep your Fork ... the best is yet to come".

The pastor's eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the woman good-bye. He knew that this would be one of the last times that he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the woman had a better grasp of Heaven than he did.

She knew and trusted that the best was yet to come. At the funeral, every one that walked by the woman's casket saw her wearing a beautiful dress with her favorite Bible held in her left hand and a fork held in her right hand.

Over and over the pastor heard people ask the question, "Why is she holding a fork?" and his smile began to get larger and brighter each time. During his message, the pastor told the people about the conversation that he had with the woman shortly before she died. He explained the fork and what it symbolized to her. The Pastor told everyone how he could not stop thinking about the fork and how he hoped that they would not be able to stop thinking about it either.

So the next time you reach for your fork, let it remind you, oh so gently, that the best is yet to come ........

Blurry eyes...

After a long break from books, well i'd picked up on notebooks - my lappy. So basically most of the time i'll be surfing the net, chatting, facebook-ing... Doesn't mean that I'd became a couch potato, I do have evening jogs or hill-walking everyday ( unless that it rains ), I do try to keep life as healthy.

Leisure is the main theme for my - unemployed day.... But i do dread the begining of my nightmare if I continue to 'leisure' more and not prepared for my housemanship. When i called my friend asking him how was housemanship in Ipoh GH, well, I have goosebumps after hearing his stories. So, Emily, you better brush up on your knowledge before getting your arse kicked!

Not only this holiday has gotten my brain rusted, I just noticed that it got my eyes blurred too. Use to have perfect vision ( main point is I dont need spectacles ) to see small writing, but now, it's getting blurred! Blame it all on long hours of sitting in front of computers! When i say long hours, i meant something that i never did before. Sitting there keying in datas for school wasn't fun. It was literally long 5 hours without moving or turning my eyes away from the computer. When I went for medical check up, they have to check my visual acuity, i thought it would be easy since I always did a good 6/6 for both eyes, and now, I only could see 6/9 for both eyes!

Sigh.... I never want to depend on the hassle of wearing glasses or what more contact lenses... I want my small but perfect eyes back! :)

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, " Here I am, send me." -Isaiah 6:8- (ESV)

Wherever You call, I will go.

Happy New Year!

This time last year I was in Yogyakarta, too busy to even think of a resolution for the year and time just flew without me noticing. I'm glad that somehow I have plenty of time to sit back and think of what I have come to be, not just merely ambition, but as a whole, character, humanity, personal passions and many more.

Looking through my bookshelf back home, suddenly I was drawn to a book that I had bought few years back but never manage to finish it. Therefore I'd decided, I'll go through it thoroughly and make the money worthwhile. I'll be reading through 40days of The Purpose Driven Life - by Rick Warren.

Started on 1st Jan 2010 for day 1, I'd been reminded that every human has a purpose designed by God. Many times we try to put God into our own picture with such a small frame and tell everyone, 'hey, this is my God', but God is so great that our human mind cannot imagine. How unfair that people sometimes just blames God for every bad thing that they went through, or even the natural disaster that had happened to mankind, but who are we to judge what God has in store for us? Therefore never underestimate God, or ourselves, or even the work that God can do through us because we are created by Him for a great purpose. That is for Him to know and for us to find out!

Second day talks about our existence. You and I are not an accident. God never does anything accidentally, and he never makes mistakes. He has a reason for everything He creates. We were designed with a purpose in mind. Even though many times we might be born unplanned by our parents, but God had us in mind long before we were conceived. I remember when I was young, my parents use to tell me that I wasn't in their plan, subconsciously, as a second child, it's never easy for me during my childhood. But God always has His way, His love. Learning about this is an assurance that we exist for a purpose that the creator has for us.

Today I'm in day 3. Was talking to a friend about my commitment to finish the book and he just said, "didn't you read about Rick Warren on yahoo news today?" Rick Warren - $2.4M. Praise God for what He had done in Saddleback Church. Ok, back to the topic of my day 3, titled "What drives your life?". To me, it's an essential question that we should ask ourselves everyday. Many times we think that God is the answer to everything. But we never pause to think, what was our intentions, what was driving us to make that decision in our life? It can be hatred, a painful memory, a haunting fear, guilt or even shame to the extend that we are often being manipulated by those memories or even unconsciously punish ourselves. Some people are driven by the need of approval, trying so hard to please your parents, peer pressure. Rick Warren mentioned that he do not know all the keys to success, but one key to failure is to try to please everyone. Being controlled by every comment that others made about you, lead us to the same dead end: unused potential, unneccessary stress, and an unfulfilled life. Trust me, I know what is he talking about. It wasn't easy to be the perfect student, perfect daughter, perfect friend. People do judge and comment about anything and everything that we do or even not do. But there is always a need to bring ourselves back on track and self-check if it's according to what God has for you.

A purpose driven life gives meaning to our life. God says " For I know the plans for you, plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jer 29:11). Isn't that encouraging that no matter what situation we are in, times of hopelessness we know we are in good hands.

Do encourage your to get hold a copy of the book, go through it together with me. Even if you're not a christian, I'm sure this will help you reflect and find your life's purpose.

Love you lots!
